Poet says that in today's pseudo-democratic set-up, freedom of speech is greatly inhibited by a System dominated by unscrupulous persons. You can't afford to take their ire and so prefer to keep silent so that you may lead an undisturbed life.

अज़ीज़ दोस्त सभों की ज़ुदाईयाँ देखीं। 

बनी न अपनी तो इस जंगजू से हर्गिज़ 'मीर'
लड़ाईं जब से हम आँखें लड़ाईयाँ देखीं।"

शब्दार्थ : (1) विसाल  = मिलन, (2) जंगजू = लड़ाई पसंद करनेवाला

Once you gird up your loins for your cherished objective, you lose all of your circles of chums. Once you make eye-to-eye contact to your goal, you have to face myriads of troubles. The poet means to say that just as one has to face lot of troubles  for getting love of a beautiful woman, he has to face many difficulties for attaining some beautiful objective.

The poet says sardonically that it is only because of the fall of so-called towering personalities that the benefits of good measures are now able to reach the common people. 

In next lines he says that in views of so-called elite class people, the downtrodden people are destined to lead a painful life and no one can save them from this.

'Meer' sarcastically admits before his beloved that well, she is not the root of the prevailing unrest in the city and all of the troubles is because of him only. He further says that seeing her with a partner having a mindset like herself would be appropriate retaliation for him.

The poet laments that he could not relish the pleasure of courteousness of his beloved just because he fell asleep as a result of that. (Inherent connotation is that your ecstasy would not last long howsoever favourable the conditions may be.)

फतह पाकर शिकस्त खायी है।"

शब्दार्थ: (1) नाज़ां = गर्वीला, (2) फतह = जीत, (3) शिकस्त =हार
 

The poet says that he is proud of the fact that his heart has been ravaged badly in the process of such a love that is the the essence of life. He further elucidates that he has won the game of love because he has lost himself in true sense for that. And in love, losing oneself is much superior to anything else.

The Poet says that in this world no one is interested in other unless he sees an opportunity to extort something in his favour. So wishing for other's attention is equivalent to inviting troubles for oneself.

 So, just try to learn enjoying life without help of others.
